The latest controversial de Blasio administration rezoning plan targets the Inwood neighborhood in Upper Manhattan--which has the largest number of rent regulated apartments in the whole city. As with previous rezonings, the community is almost unanimously opposed, both with the details and the process. And as with previous rezonings, the community has created a list of recommendations to safeguard the neighborhood. But, if history has proven anything, the mayor and his developer-friendly team have a bad habit of ignoring what residents say or want. With me are Maggie Clarke and Katherine O’Sullivan, who are respectively a founder and active member of Inwood Preservation. Both women are also involved with several other Inwood community groups.
